One of the most profound statements in scripture is found in Proverbs 1:7, 9:10, and Psalms 111:10, and Job 28:28. It reads, “The Fear of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom. “

The word “fear” in this context is better understood as reverence, meaning… to honor with deep respect. Somewhat like the respect we would give to a parent, grandparent, or someone of esteemed office or stature.

Therefore, having the right perspective of who God is, is essential to a healthy Christian life.

God is not some “higher power” or” the big man upstairs” or myth or religious deity compared to Buddha, or any other god known to mankind.

But, the Eternal God, Creator of heaven and earth and all that is therein… is Sovereign, Immortal, Omnipresent, Omnipotent, Omniscient, Immutable, Infinite, Self-sufficient, Self-existent, He is Loving, Just, Merciful, Good, Gracious, Faithful, Triune, Wise and he is Holy.

These twenty (20) attributes of God give us a glimpse of his character and how he identifies with us. To get to know him is or should be our uttermost desire and Goal. The Apostle Paul wrote, “That I might know Him (Philippians 3:10).

To know Him is to worship Him for “Who He Is” and not for what he has done.

Here is Wisdom… Hear the Word, Understand It, and Do it.  Ephesians 5:17 says, “Be not unwise but understanding what the will of the Lord is.”

Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your heart to the Lord. (Colossians 3:16).
